Personal development is a really big deal if you want to achieve the kind of life you’ve only dream of. How do you spend your time?
We live in a fast-paced society. We try to squeeze so much into our already too-full calendar. Knowing your values helps you define your life, which help in making decisions about how to spend your time. But I digress, let’s talk about personal development.
Does that sound like drudgery to you? It doesn’t have to be. It’s exciting to watch someone grow as they engage in personal development.
Without further ado I give you 14 Random Things About Personal Development
1. It’s not what happens to you, it’s how you respond.
Life will throw you a curve ball, and if it’s only one then consider yourself lucky. It’s how you respond that matters.
2. Change is good.
It can be scary and uncomfortable. But every new thing that comes gives us opportunities we wouldn’t have had otherwise.
3. Know your values.
It’s a life changer.
4. Take care of your Relationships.
When our kids were young I would ask them: “What is the most important thing in life?” They knew the answer, they had heard it enough. Relationships: with God, yourself and others. It matters.
5. Accept others the way they are.
You will save yourself grief if you embrace this truth. You can’t change ANYONE but yourself.
6. Let go of the reigns.
Easier said than done. Kyle Idleman says: “You may not have had this date circled on YOUR calendar, but God did.” Things are going to happen. Let go of those reigns.
7. Have goals.
It’s important.
8. Every day is a gift.
You only have today. Spend it wisely.
9. Anger is really about pain.
Realize when you are around someone who is angry, it isn’t about you. And when you’re the one who is angry, dig deeper and find out what’s going on.
10. Love yourself first.
We are taught as kids to put others above ourselves, however, if you don”t love yourself, how can you love others?
11. Spend money on experiences.
Things are nice but experiences are priceless, even more so if you share them with those you love. 🙂
12. Find the positive.
In fact, surround yourself with it.
13. Appreciate nature.
Nature is a gift of unmatched beauty that surrounds us.
14. Find joy in the journey, not the destination.
It’s all about the journey. Once you arrive, it’s over. Enjoy the process.
