Lent began this week. Although I’ve never actively participated in Lent before, our church jump-kicked this season off with an amazing Night of Worship and gave us each a devotional to prepare for Easter. I’m doing 40 days of Lent, y’all!
For those who may not know, Lent is the period preceding Easter that is devoted to fasting, and penitence in the commemoration of Christ’s fasting in the wilderness. In other words, Lent is a way of removing clutter in our lives so we can more clearly see Jesus and what Easter powerfully and actually means.
It’s a beautiful thing~
Day 1 in the devotional booklet was entitled An Invitation. The devotion ended with “Take a moment to pause and reflect on what we have been seeking.”
This is some of what I wrote: I have been seeking Jesus, LIFE, more since November 6, 2015 than I have in my entire life. That was a pivotal day in my life, though I didn’t know how much it was until months later.
I ended with a prayer for God to help me seek Him first today…and every day.
And then I tweeted: “Follow me”. An extraordinary invitation extended to ordinary people. John 1:43 #40daysoflent
Our hope is alive, y’all! #40daysoflent
