An Empty Nest

I am getting a taste of an empty nest. My 20 year old daughter is in Ft. Worth at a conference. I dropped my 14 year old son off to go on a youth retreat. He will be gone through the weekend. And my middle child is going to dog/house sit for a few days. My nest is indeed empty…for now anyway.

Since I know it is only temporary, and I’m so not ready for it to be permanently empty just yet, I had a perfectly lovely day. My good friend and I, after dropping our sons off for the retreat, went and had a perfectly lovely lunch overlooking the river. We were there for well over an hour, talking, laughing and catching up.

We left that riverside restaurant to go to a quaint little town with shops in the historic district. We walked and browsed and even watched a train go down the tracks in the middle of Main Street, not 10 feet from where my car was parked.

We finished the day at a pie and ice cream shop and chatted some more. It was then time to return to real-time life and go our separate ways.

Though I’m not ready for the nest to be empty, and won’t be for a while, if that’s what it’s like, I think I could get used to it. It was indeed a lovely day. I hope your day was too.

life…just saying

I’m getting to the point where it’s almost permanent. Daughter is grown and married, one in college, and one in high school. So I got a cat. 🙂
