I love books. I do! I love the feel, the look, the sight of them on a shelf, and the printed words. I have more books than I know what to do with. They become like friends and it’s hard to get rid of one once I have it in my hands.
For Christmas I received a Nook. Yep, I’ve joined the wonderful world of electronic reading. I didn’t want to be left behind! But I gotta tell you, it’s just not the same.
I was excited to receive it and am still learning all the ropes of the darn thing, but two things I know for sure. One, perusing the pages of an e-reader is nothing like holding a book in you hands, and two, you have to spend money in order to be able to use this electronic wonder. Uh…dud, right?
So I will continue to read a book or two, and maybe even watch a movie as I’m leaning all the many things I can do with yet another computer-type object. But you can bet your bottom dollar I will never stop reading the printed word.
I’m with you…I can’t touch and feel every book in my collection if it’s stuffed in an electronic device. It truly loses it’s authenticity doesn’t it? I will keep to the real deals…
