My boy leaves for Czech Republic tomorrow. He will be gone for 16 days. This is my baby, the youngest of our three kids. I will miss him greatly.
As you can see, he’s not a baby, but dang, he’s my baby and it’s hard to let go sometimes…especially when there will be a pond between us and a different time zone, with no direct communication for most of those 16 days.
I’m proud of my boy. He’s an accomplished musician. He will be taking his banjo on this music-focused mission trip he is taking with thirteen others from Southeast Christian Church. He will be playing drums too, and teaching bass in some of the workshops they are conducting.
I am excited for Luke. What a great opportunity to see the sights he is about to incur, and to visit the city of Prague, the largest city in Czech Republic, and I can’t wait to see the pictures he takes of this old, history-fill city that is a feast for the eyes. What an experience that will be for him and the team as they partner with Josiah Venture and Fusion Camp.
Let me hear from you mamas. I know there are some who have had to say good-bye for longer periods than this, so a 16 day stint to Czech Republic is no big thing. Just the beginning, I know. For to be a parent, a mom, is a series of many good-byes along the way. My good-byes are happening in the appropriate manner and right on time.
Godspeed.
You said it best, my sweet friend!
“My good-byes are happening in the appropriate manner and right on time.”
Trust that.
God bless Luke on his mission!!! God’s got Him RIGHT where He wants Him. I can’t think of better Hands than His to place your precious boy in… yes? Find peace in that!!

Yes, Chris, a thousands times yes!
My oldest’s first mission trip was to Japan for 16 days between her junior and senior year. It seemed like forever! We could have no communication. But she came home having learned so much and she loved the travel.

I remember when Sarah did that trip. I was wondering how you stood it. I know Luke will be a different person because of the trip.
