The older I get, the less I understand about life and the ways of God. We often want to put Him in a box. His ways are higher than ours. His thoughts are beyond our limited comprehension. The longer I walk this road of faith the more I am convinced that it’s not so much about my capacity to believe, but more often than not it’s about hope. Hope that I am living a life that is pleasing to God and that the decisions I make are honorable.
God is never too early or too late. He is right on time. In fact, He is the author of life and time and there is nothing that happens, EVER, that catches Him off guard. I struggle with that in my human understanding. But that is where I often find God, in my struggles.
It’s in my whys, my questions, my doubts and my fears that turn me straight back to His Holy embrace to abide anew. For He is God and I am not.
Though I will never understand this fallen world, nor will I ever be able to reconcile this life to the infinite, perfect love of Jesus, I will continue to choose to trust in Him. Every. Time.
Even when I am tempted to simply give up, that’s when I realize He is higher, greater, stronger. He is King and Lord of all.
He is the beginning and the end.
He was and is and is to come.
He is the Great I Am.
When I choose to fix my eyes upon who He says He is, then all that I know about this life pales in comparison to the one that is to come.
And even though sometimes this life is hard and lonely, this life is but a vapor. Time continues to tick and our days are still numbered.
In the midst of all of my questions I will be still and know that He is.
And I will do it all again tomorrow.
