Do you have a bucket list?
I have a friend in her 50s who has a 60 by 60 list. It consists of 60 things she wants to do before she turns 60. I like that idea better than a bucket list. A bucket lists sounds so…definitive.
Because I am in my 50s as well, I decided to adopt the whole 60 by 60 thing. I have a list. Actually, I currently only have 57 things on my list, though I am always searching to add more.
We were at a party last weekend and my 60×60 list came up and here’s why.
Doing a zip line tour is on my list. I did a Deal Chicken sort of thing and got a couples zip line tour for my husband’s birthday which is Sunday. I figured what the heck, we’ll go zip lining for his birthday! Only problem is the hubs isn’t too fond of heights. It’s not on his list of things he wants to do before he kicks the bucket turns 60. But it’s on mine! So here we go…Monday is the day. Stay tuned for a vlog hopefully, a blog post for sure. How mean am I?
What’s on your bucket list? Do you even have one? A list of any kind?
The first thing on my list is to ride in a hot air balloon. I did that a couple of months ago, thanks to my friend Kathy. You can read about it here: Hot Air Ballooning.
Another thing on my list is to write a book. I published my first E-book in May. You can read about that here: My Book.
And the final thing I have scratched off my list because I have done the deed, is to be involved in the 127 Yard Sale. You can read about that here: The Things You Learn at the 127 Yard Sale.
So what else is on my list?
Becoming a grandma. Someone at the party pointed out to me that I can’t have that on my list because that involves other people. Hey, it’s my list. It staying!
Attending a Bloggy Bootcamp is also on there. I have my ticket and am ready to head for Minneapolis in October! Actually I’m attending Bloggy Conference 2013 in September. That’s right. Four years of no conferences and BAM! Now I’m going to two.
Take a web design class is on there as well. The adult ed class starts next week! I’m definitely on a roll here.
Go on an overseas mission trip is on there. Not yet.
Run/walk a marathon. We’ll see.
The hardest one of all may be going gray before I’m sixty. You do understand that I have a lot of gray hair already? I just cover it…every five weeks. Throw a little cash at it and like magic I’m, well…not gray. That is actually an upcoming blog post.
That’s all I’m sharing for now. Maybe more as I check them off. I need some more ideas. Tell me about your list? Do you have any suggestions?
Oh my goodness…I love your list! Thank you so much for sharing it with us! I would love to go skydiving and get another tattoo (soon!) tomorrow I’m turning 30 and simply focusing on the beauty and gift of being alive, after everything I’ve been through. So glad I stopped by tonight from the SITS Sharefest. 🙂
xoxo.
Happy Birthday! I sadly don’t remember my 30s. It was full of having babies, changing diapers, feeding, laundry and trying to sleep! What a great way to spend your birthday…sounds nice.
I LOVE your list!!! WOW! I am still laughing about taking your hubs ziplining!! Good for you! (Sorry for him!)
I would absolutely love to go to a conference… where is the one in September? I am still a little sad I didn’t make the Blogher in Chicago.
In due time.
That would be on my list- 50 before 50!!!
You keep dreaming and living sweetie!! XO
I know, right? I keep telling him he doesn’t have to do it! He is determined. The conference is at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Can’t wait! I here blogher was a bit of a disaster, sorry to say. Good luck on your 50×50!
Very interesting! I’m in my early 40s and haven’t done a thing on my bucket list – see Italy, skydive, learn to play the fiddle. I look forward to reading more on your blog!
Oh those sound awesome. Make a list! It seems to propel things…it did for me. Thanks for your kind words.
I LOVE reading Bucket Lists and you’ve got some fun things! But I think almost as fun is reading “cool things I’ve done” lists. A friend of mine encouraged me to do this about a year ago and I surprised myself thinking of cool stuff I had done. Give it try! (Also motivating to help move Bucket List items over to Cool Things List!
That is a great idea. I know I have a lot of good experiences I could put on that list. I might just do it! Thanks for the idea and stopping by. 🙂
All the best on your 60 by 60 list!! I haven’t made a bucket list yet…but I do have a few dreams I definitely want to see happen in my lifetime 🙂 Visiting from SITS today 🙂
You look a little young for the whole bucket list thing anyway. I wish you the best on your dreams.
While there are some goals/items I’d like to reach before my next landmark age, I don’t like to give myself too much of a deadline. For example, getting married. That’s why I’m ok saying “bucket list”. I want it to happen sometime, but I don’t want to be depressed about not achieving it by a certain age.
But I am completing a major bucket list item in November, the NYC Marathon! Very excited!
Congrats on the marathon! A bucket list item for sure. 🙂
This is a really good list. I just turned 30 last month and have begun to create a 30 in 30 list. I have almost a year to complete my bucket list. Zip lining is on that list!
I remember the 30s in a vague sort of way. Busy having and raising kids. Good for you on the 30×30. Can’t wait to hear about your zip lining experience.
