I happily accepted an invitation to be on the launch team for Kyle Idleman’s newest book, Don’t Give Up! I was invited to be a part of a book tour. as well.
Don’t Give Up is all the buzz at Southeast Christian Church where Kyle is Senior Pastor. It’s also where I attend church and where I work. It’s with good reason people are talking about Don’t Give Up! It’s a good book, just like all Kyle’s books. It’s a hard read…just like all of Kyle’s books. They are written with such simplicity, yet profoundly deep. His books invite us, no, they COMPEL us to not just grasp what he is saying, but to go a step further, to lean in deeper in our relationship with Jesus.
Don’t Give Up compels us to surrender to God, giving up our own will and ideas, and trusting Him with our lives- our troubles, our sicknesses and situations that leave us in tatters.
Here’s the thing about all of Kyle Idleman’s books. I can’t just casually read through them. Don’t Give Up is the same, but worse. Worse not in a bad way, but in a way that makes me put the book down, walk away and wonder…
What? How? Why? God?
I have to let things sink in. I have to digest what Kyle is saying in bite-sized pieces. I could make this book last all year, but I can’t! I’m a part of the launch team and the book tour, and I’m excited to be! But what I just (re)read about Abraham, the Father of Faith. What? How? Why? God?
Y’all, I’m only on page 28, the first chapter!
Don’t Give Up is timely for me. It speaks to me in a very personal way. In fact, last weekend, Kyle started his new six week sermon series entitled Don’t Give Up. That first sermon! What? How? Why? God? It took everything within me to sit and listen. And this week, our small groups start a six week Don’t Give Up series, that follows along with the sermons, in tandem with the release of the book.
I am immersed in this new book by Kyle Idleman. Don’t Give Up is currently a huge part of my small place in the world.
I invite you to join me on this journey. Preorder the book (there are bonuses)! Listen to the sermons as you read through. It could be a life-changer. It will definitely encourage you, wherever you are and whatever you’re going through.
