Here I am at my new home and just like any move it is taking me a while to get acclimated. I’m not quite finished unpacking yet either. I think I have a little more work to do before I’m all settled in.
And the new name… who knew coming up with a new blog name would be so hard? I don’t think I put this much thought into life just saying, it just sort of happened…just saying.
There is a story about this name – there always is – as to how it came to be.
For those of you who have been reading my blog for the past several years you know about our move from the place that was our home for thirteen years – the home that will always hold a special place in my heart. That house had a blue door. It just worked with the brick. Blue shutters too as a matter of fact. It was sort of how I defined my house when giving directions to new visitors. It was just the right color blue too.
For those of you who are unaware, we moved from our home due to real estate investments going south in 2010, and we lost our residence as well. Much, much healing has taken place in my heart over the last three years, so many lessons I have learned as well. I have to tell you though, that most of the healing took place after I wrote my book Life After Foreclosure: How to be Happy Even When You Lose Your Home (#ad). I didn’t see that coming.
There is life, so I discovered, beyond the blue door of the home we left behind.
I don’t actually have a blue door at the current house where we abide, however, I plan to have one once we buy a place. So as you can see, a lot of thought went into the new name of my blog…maybe too much. 🙂
A rose by any other name…
And now a shout out to Tanya over at blogelina (#ad), for doing such an amazing job of moving me here to my new home, and for providing FREE Go Daddy hosting for this blog for one year, all because I signed up for her FREE four week online blogging class. (The hosting and online class were free, not transferring my blog, however, that was very reasonable as well. Click here for details #ad.) I highly recommend her for any blogging needs you may have. She is most generous and helpful. Contact her at: http://blogelina.com.
Beyond My Blue Door here we go!
I love the blog name! It is good to remember the past while blazing into the future. 🙂
Indeed.

Thanks for sharing your story. I’m sure lots of people can relate to your financial hardships (I know I can!) Love the blog name and sentiment behind it. All the best to you in your new home.
Thanks for stopping by, Andrea, and leaving your sweet comments!
About 7 years ago we sold our home of ten years and headed West to chase a dream. Just last year, we were finally able to purchase a home in the mountains, a cozy little cabin. It was a difficult road to travel. It is not smooth sailing just because we have our own home again, todays economy is just very rough. But we are blessed to live where we do, have a roof over our heads and food on our table. Love the name of your blog and how you arrived at that title. I wish you well and another blue door very soon. Thanks so much for stopping by Cozy Cabin News and leaving a comment. I am following you on Twitter.
Life just does that to us, right? Hands us things we neither ask for or choose…well indirectly maybe. I’m glad you’re settled, and I’m okay now with wherever God puts me. Finding contentment is a blessing to cherish. Thanks for stopping by and the follow!
Love the blog name!
