I wish that we were sitting face to face, enjoying a nice tall glass of half sweet iced tea. I would love to get to know you better, the joys and struggles of your life. I would love to hear all about your family and your faith in Jesus. And I would want to hear all the things you have endured in your marriage, and how you survived and even thrived.
But since that isn’t possible at the moment, I will tell you a little about me. I have been married since 1980, you do the math! I live in Louisville, Kentucky which is not too far from Cincinnati and Indianapolis. We have three kids; a daughter who was born in 1990, a son who was born in 1992 and another son who was born in 1996. The 90s are a blur of diapers, toys, sleepless nights and the joy of my heart.
These are my people.
I homeschooled all three kids from day one. My youngest graduated in 2014. My life was all about changing from 2010 until well, it will continue to do so, I am sure. I can’t wait to become a grandma…but that’s another story!
I started blogging in 2009. I was a closet blogger for a couple of years. I was a bit intimidated with the thought of someone actually reading what I wrote, though I wanted that in the worst way. I blog to help wives of sex addicts find the quiet in the chaos and the voices in their heads so they can figure our their own unique next steps, by encouraging, inspiring, and praying for and with in a community of women who share the same struggles.
I started out blogging as Life Just Saying. After a few years I changed my name to Beyond My Blue Door. Now I am Not a Perfect Life because none of us have a perfect life, especially if you live with an addict. You can experience it more by reading A Plan For Your Life. And Four Hours which is a blog about weddings and marriage. I also wrote about how God designed marriage and the role of a husband in What I Saw.
I have a passion for flowers and travel. I have been to forty-one states and am looking forward to visiting the other nine. I’m far from finished exploring in the United States.

My blog, this small space in the virtual world is about YOU!
Some things I am proud of:
I am an ordained minister, which better equips me to walk with wives of addicts. I am also a certified (twice) life coach, which I refer to as a hope coach, to give hope in times of struggles. I am a trained women’s mentor as well. I have written for various blogs, magazines and The Southeast Outlook. You can read one of my articles here: Faith To Obey Anyway
It is my desire to connect with you and serve you however I can. Contact me at: Laurie@notaperfectlife.com. Let’s do this together.
