Day 9 of 40 Days of Lent
“Jesus said to him, ‘Go; your son will live.’ The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way.” John 4:50
Such an interesting devotion on this ninth day of 40 days of Lent. This reminds me of my friend Jackie.
How do you know when to pull back and when to lean in? Jackie and I have had spiritual conversations over the course of our seventeen year friendship, although she will admit that her experience with anything having to do with church or God is limited.
And yet, she’s open. She may be open now more than ever before because she just underwent surgery to remove one of her kidneys, after discovering a mass just a couple of weeks ago.
Is she angry with God with because of this development, or is she open and seeking because she has come face-to-face with her mortality? It’s hard’s to read just where she’s at.
This I do know…God loves all people. ALL. PEOPLE.
But does she know?
We can each site incidents where life threw a curve ball or two at us or someone we love. It doesn’t always make sense. Actually, it seldom does. But I have learned to trust the process. To trust in this unseen force of love that brings peace in the most tumultuous storms of life.
I will continue to pray for Jackie. I will pray that He will draw her to Himself, and to use me as an instrument of His love in her life.
It could change the lives of many.
