Midnight in Paris – My Review

My daughter and I watched Midnight in Paris Sunday night. It came highly recommended by two friends. One said it was “charming”. The other liked it in spite of Owen Wilson starring, and Woody Allen directing. 🙂 And both loved the scenery. (I concur with the scenery part.) It was a different, non-predictable, interesting movie.

The person played by Owen Wilson (whose name escapes me at present) thought he was born too late. He thought the golden years were the 1920s, and would have preferred to have been born in that era. His friend from that time thought the late 1800s was the ideal time to live.

Midnight in Paris wasn’t my usual viewing taste, but I did like the message of the movie. My favorite line was the one Owen Wilson’s character said to his friend from the 20s: “That’s what the present is. It’s a bit unsatisfying because life is unsatisfying.”

That pretty much sums it up, life that is. Life is always greener on the other side. Looking, yearning, dreaming about a different life. Maybe the thing is to find contentment where you are.

Just saying…

This sounds like a good movie for a rainy day!

I am guilty of the grass is greener way of thinking. I might have to check out this movie.
