Hi. My name is Laurie, and I’m a burger junkie. There, I said it out loud. It’s not very trendy, nor health savvy, but what can I say? I like burgers. Not just any burger, mind you, no, I especially like gourmet burgers, or burgers you make at home. That’s why these mini party burgers caught my attention while flipping through Taste of Home Magazine. I just had to try them! That’s what I made for the 365 Easy Recipe challenge.
Eat while enjoying a college basketball game, or not!
Mini Party Burgers
1/2 pound ground beef
1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
4 slices Havarti cheese (about 4 oz.), quartered
1 egg, beaten with 1 tsp. water
1. Preheat oven to 400º. In a bowl, lightly mix beef and dressing mix. Shape into eight 1/2-in.-thick patties.
2. In a skillet, cook burgers over medium heat for 3 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160º.
3. On a floured surface, unfold puff pastry; roll into a 12-in. square. Cut pastry into four 6-inl squares; cut squares in half to make eight rectangles. Place a burger on one end of each rectangle; top with cheese. Brush edges of pastry with egg mixture. Gold pastry over burger; press edges with a fork to seal. transfer to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. brush with egg mixture. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
I pretty much stuck with the recipe here. I must admit, however, I never do the egg wash thing. I don’t see the point!
