Day 5 of 40 Days of Lent
Have you ever experienced being slightly dehydrated? I have. Hello, my name is Laurie and sometimes I don’t always drink a proper amount of water. When I don’t drink enough water, especially in very hot weather, it affects everything. It’s kind of weird, but I think that is how it is when we are needy in other areas of our lives.
“…but whoever drinks of water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of living water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14
To never thirst again.
Have you heard about the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at the well? He told her all about her life even though they had just met. He saw into her empty, rejected, wounded heart and accepted her. Invited her. He saw her thirst; her need for living water.
He sees ours as well.
What I wrote: To be known thoroughly and completely, even in the ugliest of places where I feel unkind, tired, selfish, and even, at times, less than. I am accepted by this Jesus who gives water to those in desperate need.
Today’s devotion ended with a prompting to pause every time we encounter water this day, and to remember the living water that Jesus offers to those who are thirsty.
Are you thirsty?
