Day 3 of 40 Days of Lent
What is zeal? It’s not a word we use much these days. Put simply zeal is a ” great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective.”
The Bible tells us in John 2:1 that “His disciples remembered it was written, ‘ Zeal for your house will consume me”.
The Author and Creator of all things is consumed by you! He is consumed by me, too.
I am reminded of Psalm 139. All of it pretty much blows me away, but specifically verse 17 &18 which states: How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand..
His thoughts for us out number the sand in all the universe!
This is some of what I wrote in Day 3 of 40 Days of Lent:
I sit and ponder, in awe and disbelief. How can the Author and Creator of all things…ALL THINGS, be zealous of me? Oh, I get that the zeal is for “God’s Temple”, His people, but me?
Jesus is just as zealous for us…for YOU as He was for His temple.
My prayer for Day 3 is: Help me, God, understand this zeal. Help me to know you are there, thinking of me each day, more than the grains of the sand. And just as important, help those who don’t get it, to see and to feel your love.
Do you see the truth of God’s zeal in your life?
I’d love to hear about it!
