Day 11 of 40 Days of Lent
It never ceases to amaze me, at times, when I overhear the conversations of fellow believers. The ones I’m talking about here go a little something like this:
Person One: “Hey, how are you doing today?”
Person Two: “Hanging in. It beats the alternative.”
Uh, no it doesn’t.
Philippians 1:21 says: For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
We live in a troubled world. There are crazy things going on all around us.
What are you afraid of? Dying? Being alone? Terrorists attacks? The future of your kids?
Jesus calmed the stormy waters while on a fishing boat with the twelve disciples, simply by speaking these words, “Peace! Be still”. The disciples were afraid they were going to die, and they were in the boat with the Messiah!
He can still calm any storm in our lives today.
The devotional scripture for today is Mark 4: 39-40: And He awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still.” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”
If we ever really get who we belong to, we need never fear again.
