I’m a Little Scared, Y’all!

What a crazy week this is going to be. It’s a tale of two fears. I’m a little scared, ya’ll! By the way, I never say “y’all” even though I live in Kentucky. That just hasn’t been a part of my vocabulary. But then I started hearing people from California, Jersey and even New York use it so it seems very vogue at the moment. It sounds cute coming from those who aren’t southerners so I’m using it now, y’all.

movingFebruary 25th is the day we close on our house…tomorrow. I posted about the whole house ordeal here and here, and many more times, if truth be told. But, hey, we bought a house! After three plus years of renting, the hubs and I are becoming homeowners…again and I’m a little scared, ya’ll.

Oh, I know all the pros and cons of home ownership versus renting. I get that, but we have been living a pretty carefree life as tenants. The dishwasher breaks? Call the landlord. A dying tree needs to be taken down? Hello landlord. The sump pump goes out…landlord! Bedbugs when you first move in? The landlord pays to treat the house. Did that really happen? Oh yes it did!

You’re getting my point here, right? We didn’t have to do or pay for anything that went awry while “throwing our money away by renting”. But now? Well, suffice it to say I’m having flashbacks. It’ll be fine, I’m sure. Another adventure on this journey called life.

And then there’s Friday. Friday is coming, my friends. Friday I board a plane to fly across the country to San Diego. My. Very. First Flight. I gotta tell you I’m more than a little nervous. Oh, it’s not about the flight itself. I’m pretty excited about THAT part, as long as I don’t hurl. I could have air/motion sickness. How would I know this since I’ve never flown before?

The part that has me worried is packing, the airport, and changing planes. I’m glad my veteran plane-riding friend is going with me!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a total homebody. I love to travel; see and do new things. I’ve been to 38 of our 50 states. But we’ve driven there.

I’ve been in the air too. My husband and I went for a short helicopter ride over the Great Smokey Mountains for our 20th anniversary. That was fun, and loud, emphasis on short.

I also rode in a hot air balloon last year. The winds were high and the landing attempts were rough. Still glad I went though (thanks Kathy)! And I rode in a taxi in Minneapolis. I’m pretty sure we were airborne a time or two on the way back to the hotel.

Two big events in one week is pretty big stuff for a small town girl like me. I’m up for it though. Life’s an adventure. I want to be present for every single minute.

Even for this tale of two fears.

Yay that’s great news on the house! I’m renting right now too but I’m saving to own my own home. It is very difficult trying to do everything in your own. I have never flown either. It terrifies me! You’ll be just fine, if you feel it’s too much I heard deep breathes help.

I love to fly now! Breathing helps in so many situations.

I know u can buy those wrist bracelets called c-bands (spelling?). They help for when traveling by plane. Its supposed to help so you don’t get sick, or feel sick. (HTH- hope this helps) Sounds exciting to start again to own your own home 😉 Good Luck w Everything 🙂

I do appreciate that, my friend. You’re right, both big AND exciting but it all makes me a little nervous. Changes are good though, right? Expect posts.

Oh my gosh! Such big stuff! I hope your flight goes smoothly and the same for the closing on your house. And I get those thoughts about now being responsible for every repair and problem. I have up owning a house last year and while I want to buy one again – one day, I’m in no hurry for that reason. And y’all? Ha! I took it it within 2 days of moving to NC

You won’t hurl! I promise. (somehow I have the authority to promise that?)
Wow. These are great adventures. I can’t wait to read or see a vlog about them!
