Mark1:15 states: The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.
Why is it so instinctively human to run and hide when we sin?
That’s the way we were created.
It all began in the Garden of Eden. As soon as Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree, they became aware of good and evil. And the battle began. We are still running, hiding to this day, shifting the focus and blaming someone else. I suspect it will be that way until the end of time…as a whole.
But as an individual, we get to make a choice.
Here’s the deal, as long as sin remains hidden and kept secret, the stronger shame becomes in our lives. Make no mistake, shame will destroy in one way or another.
In today’s devotional we are encouraged to come out of hiding and confess our sin. It can be solely be a thing between you and God, but finding a trusted person to share the story with is even better. It fosters connection and accountability.
We were never meant to do life alone, especially when it comes to getting rid of shame and living in the freedom that Christ has provided.
The first step is the hardest.
I pray that you will find the courage to accept the gift of confession.
