Psalm 34:18 states that The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart.
This is so very true. I’ve experienced it a time or two during my life. There doesn’t appear to be any exceptions or stipulations on this tidbit from The Bible. It’s just stated as a fact. He is. The question is: are we aware of His presence or even choose to believe this truth?
My friend and I were discussing this topic just this morning. In times of tragedy or crisis we either choose to turn to God for comfort and our source of healing, or we shut Him out. Oftentimes, I venture to say, we do both. I know I have.
Life can be very difficult and painful indeed. I don’t know why. I can’t explain it. I don’t have the answers as to why people suffer. It’s human nature and simply the way it is here in this earthly realm.
“God will provide, but we must have our eyes open to see His gifts”. I read that sentence today. I know it’s true. I know we have a part to play and perhaps that is what makes it even more difficult. It doesn’t fit with today’s fast-paced, have it now, it’s all about me mentality. And then I read this, “How can you find something you’re not really looking for?”
Just a few thoughts to ponder
