Day 28 of 40 Days of Lent
What is this upside-down gospel? I struggle at times in my humanness to not want to be seen and known. I’m pretty sure it’s added to my stress over the years.
“…Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great” Luke 9:48
Who is this King, this miracle-working Man who says the least among you shall be great? Did He know how hard that would be for those of us who live in a fame and fortune world?
I work at a place where there are varying degrees of well-known folks. It’s hard sometimes to just be one of the little people. But with this upside-down gospel Jesus beckons us to do so, knowing that “the least will be the greatest…
I find that I must humble myself in this “little people” role that I’m in on a regular basis. It’s not my place to choose my place in where I fall on the great to least scale.
This upside-down gospel calls us to serve.
To serve.
That’s how the least becomes greatest, even when it doesn’t make sense.
