Very interesting thing, blogging. There are so many different blogs, and probably as many reasons to actually blog. There are blogs with thousands and thousands of followers and some with only a few. Sports, couponing, crafts, news, home school, finance, stay at home moms, music, design, celeb blogs…you name it and there are dozens of blogs on that topic. There are even blogs about blogging. It’s very important to find your niche, they say and to define your purpose for blogging.
I have and I haven’t. I haven’t found my niche but I now know the purpose. I was a closet blogger for about two years. I wrote but I never told anyone about it. A few people stumbled upon it and left a comment or two but I didn’t know much about promoting a blog or building a following, and I was a little intimidated by letting others see too much of who I am or what I think. I’ve learned a lot over the last year or so.
This is what I do know. The way I blog and the way I live are pretty much the same. What you see is what you get and you pretty much see it all. Some have asked why I put it out there for all to read and that’s a really good question. It simply boils down to this…it is the hope that somehow these things I have experienced in my life (and I haven’t written about all of them) will somehow, someway, by sharing my experience, help someone else.
Here is an excerpt from God’s Guest List by Debbie Macomber. It goes like this: “Her mother was almost frantic with worry when the first-grader came home from school a half hour late. ‘Where have you been?’ she asked as soon as her daughter walked into the house.
“I’m sorry, Mommy.” Tears smudged her cheeks, “Susan brought her glass doll to school today for show and tell. On her way home she dropped it, and the face got all broke.”
The mother gathered her little girl into her arms, ” So you stopped to help her fix the doll?”
“Oh, no,” she said, shaking her head. “I don’t know how to help her fix it. I stopped to help her cry.”
It’s neither fun or easy to share the unfortunate events that have transpired over the course of my life. But I do to give relevance, purpose and meaning to otherwise what would remain just tragic events that took place. I do so to give hope and perhaps a tiny bit of comfort in knowing that you are not alone. There are those who have travelled that road as well and have not only survived but grown because of it.
I ultimately share in hopes of pointing others to the One who knows the answers to all questions. I write because I have been entrusted with this story, my life. I do so to “help you cry”.
life…just saying

I know there are lot of blogs but there but there is only one person with your personality and point of view….and thats you. I had a great time reading your post today, I was inspired and encouraged…..plus i forgot my own daily hustle and bustle for 30 minutes. Keep on doing what you’re doing, it is making more of a difference than you will ever know!

Thanks Kelly. It sounds interesting. I think I will check it our.
Thanks for sharing. Many bloggers feel the same way so thank you for expressing your feelings. As you probably know, there are many mommy bloggers who have blogs with a similar purpose to yours. You should see if any other moms have similar experiences and connect with them. I recently launched a site – http://www.whyiblog.com – as a way of connecting bloggers in one spot. This way they can share their stories and read others. If you want check it out! You might find another mom whose child would do the same thing.
kids always does the unexpected.
